NRG have been eliminated from iBUYPOWER Masters FML in 5th-6th place after an upset loss to Wildcard in Group A's decider series.
Jadan "HexT" Postma and Danny "Cxzi" Strzelczyk were the stars as Wildcard came out on top of the do-or-die Americas derby, exacting revenge for Friday's 0-2 loss in the opening round.
"It feels pretty good," said HexT, who posted a series-high 1.55 rating. "We played really badly yesterday. It feels good to have redemption. The calls were amazing. Danny [Cxzi] played great. I played great. Everyone played great. It feels pretty good."
It's a bitter pill to swallow for NRG, who will be kicking themselves for squandering the chance to solidify their position in the Americas VRS after making a lot of ground at StarLadder StarSeries Fall with the win over MOUZ.
Nick "nitr0" Cannella's troops are still ranked eighth in the region but could be leapfrogged on Sunday by paiN if the Brazilians beat Imperial in the grand final of FERJEE In House Season 2.
Wildcard join M80 and group winners Liquid and DENDELE in qualifying for the semi-final stage of the North American LAN. In the other group decider, M80 edged past Voca in a close series where both maps went the distance.
