Daniel "syph0" Ageyev has become the new number one HLTV Prospect after a starring role in Nemiga's run to the grand final of PGL Masters Bucharest.
He was a close number two last month off the back of his form in tier two, and he's turned that into a clear number one after another month of elite play in his anchor-lurker roles.
Alex "poiii" Nyholm Sundgren is the new number two after earning the Dust2 Brasil MVP of FiRe Last Chance in 100 Thieves' dramatic qualification to the Major, leaving David "Dawy" Bibik to settle for third.
Vadim "tO0RO" Arkov posted a 1.36 rating this month as Virtus.pro won CIS LAN Season 9, sending him up eight places to a new peak of eighth.
Artur "pleynnn" Syzdykov also had a good LAN in Moscow, with a 1.24 rating as UPGRADE finished 5-8th resulting in a climb to tenth. Teammate Maxim "SquEzxc" Grebenko was even better, a 1.35 rating, and climbs to 16th.
Volodymyr "mazay" Iorhachov of fnatic and Spirit Academy may have missed out on the top ten but he's the biggest climber in the top 50, going up 16 places. He was integral as fnatic made the final of Stake Ranked Episode 5 (1.29 rating).
Zolbayar "tikuak" Chimedtseren may not have adapted to tier one with The MongolZ, but with Chinggis Warriors he is shining (1.17 rating this month) and will play his first Major in Singapore.
Yeray "Joey" Serrano Pérez also had a month to remember. Since he just missed out in last month's update, Sangal won Urban Riga Open S7 and came third at Roman Imperium IX. In this month, the Spaniard posted a 1.16 rating and is rewarded by not only breaking into the list but debuting at #17.
17-year-old Andrii "tired73" Hlushko was such a terrifying opponent that Natus Vincere forfeited their match against WBT Academy in Portugal, but it was no matter for the young Ukrainian, who went on to win Retake Season 13 with a 1.32 rating in his first-ever LAN on HLTV. He's now knocking on the door of the top 20, even without playing a single top 50 team yet, such is the strength of his form.
NAVI Junior duo Samuel "MahaR" Horáček and David "FAZERY" Procházka break into the list too, sitting next to each other at #26 and #27.
There's plenty of movement in the rest of the list too, after we changed some of the maths behind the ranking. Previously, players were ranked by their percentile scores, but we have moved back to a scaled scoring system (median absolute deviation) to preserve the gaps between players.
This is a boon for the likes of pleynnn, SquEzxc, and tired73 who score much better in this new system.
Graduates
This month two ever-presents on HLTV Prospects turned 21, namely Gleb "gr1ks" Gazin and Klimentii "kl1m" Krivosheev.
The two snipers were frequently in the top ten for their exploits with MIBR and BIG, and kl1m reached second place in August 2026.
Since kl1m moved back to G2 Ares, he has not played an official. gr1ks has been highly rated throughout his time in BIG, but never went beyond #9 after struggling against top-rated opposition early in his career.
Jae "74LOR" Webb was the top Oceanic prospect for just one month before his own birthday, while David "bl1x1" Stepanyants graduates in a rarer way by passing 1000 career maps.
For a reminder of the criteria, see here:
HLTV Prospects criteria, as of August 31, 2026:
Under 21 years of age
Fewer than 50 maps at Big Events
Fewer than 50 maps in a top 20 team vs a top 20 team
Fewer than 100 maps in a top 30 team vs a top 30 team
Fewer than 300 maps in a top 50 team vs a top 50 team
Fewer than 1000 career maps
Note: Eligibility is now updated for each monthly ranking
Stat Attack
This month's scatterplot centres on two new filters we have: Performance in buy vs buy rounds, and in anti-eco rounds.
As ever over larger samples, most players who are great in anti-ecos are great in buy vs buy rounds too. You also want your star players to eco farm too, giving them confidence for the tougher challenges ahead.
But there are some trends. Vyacheslav "slaxejezzz" Vinokurov (-17), poiii (-12), and Liam "MaiL09" Tügel (-10) are the three players who improve the most in terms of percentile rank in anti-ecos against gun rounds.
The opposite, players who go up in gun rounds, include FAZERY (+16 ranks), Iago "deemO" Henrique (+12), Philipp "tex1y" Moskvitin (+11), and Alexandr "oz1k" Sevastyanov (+11).
