Sashi have announced the surprise additions of THUNDER dOWNUNDER's Tynan "TjP" Purtell and former Renegades member Jordan "Hatz" Bajic on a temporary basis as they look to maximize their chances of qualifying for PGL Major Singapore.
The Australian duo's arrival means Sashi are poised to enter the Asia VRS, with the team now fielding three players from the region (Sashi told HLTV that Anton "Anlelele" Huynh has Vietnamese citizenship).
Sashi made no secret that this is only a temporary move, stating that Mikkel "MistR" Thomsen and Casper "Cabbi" Jensen will be "stepping out of the starting lineup for the coming month."
Hatz's last HLTV-covered match dates back to July 2024, when he played for Rooster in ESL Challenger League Season 48. That roster also featured TjP and current BC.Game member Tyson "asap" Paterson.
TjP has been with THUNDER dOWNUNDER since its formation in October 2025. Earlier this year, the Australian side competed at the IEM Cologne Major as Asia's fourth-highest-ranked team at the invite cutoff date.
The Danish side becomes the latest team to embrace an Asian core with an eye on the upcoming Major, following in the footsteps of BC.Game and WW.
Sashi are currently ranked 54th in the Europe VRS with 1122 Valve points. An immediate switch to the Asia region would see them become the region's fifth-highest-ranked team and enter the qualification zone for Singapore, though Finn "Mischief" Farrer's latest projection puts their chances at just 13%.
The change has provoked criticism from several quarters in the scene, with Nikola "NiKo" Kovač among the high-profile figures who urged Valve to address the matter.
"It's not too late to do something about this," the Falcons star wrote on X.
Daniel “Mavrick” Lang, the founder of Dfrag, an Australian esports event production company, said that the future of Asian and Oceanic CS is in jeopardy "without intervention at the highest level.
"The manipulation and abuse of the VRS system via teams switching regions mid-season has done, and will continue to deal, considerable damage to the grassroots and developing subregions affected," he wrote on X.
"While opportunites arise for some individuals, the rest left behind see their chances crushed by projects that give nothing back to the regions they consume. Add on VRS network weighting, and the gap between Europe and the rest of the world continues to widen."
TjP and Hatz will make their first appearance for Sashi on Wednesday in the closed qualifier for 1win Private Club Season 2. Next week, the team will also attend Stake Pulse Beat III in Stockholm.
