MIBR have kept their StarLadder Staries Fall campaign alive with a lower bracket victory over magic, picking up wins on Ancient (13-8) and Inferno (13-8) either side of a loss on Mirage (11-13).
It was assumed that MIBR would take the win in this series as magic are attending StarSeries with their coach standing in for Andrey "AW" Anisimov, but the fact magic managed to take a map victory was a surprise.
The series was going as expected on Ancient, two magic pistol wins in both halves serving up a closer score line than was perhaps appropriate, as a masterful Felipe "insani" Yuji performance granted MIBR a straightforward 1-0 series lead.
Abdurakhim "mo0N" Issa led a surprise magic fightback on Mirage, a stellar 17 kills on the CT side guiding the team to a narrow 13-11 victory, but MIBR duly righted the ship on Inferno and once again dominated despite magic winning both pistols.
The result breaks the momentum magic were starting to generate and does a small amount of damage to their VRS point total. The team should still be in a solid position to qualify for PGL Singapore Major later this year, and have a good chance to push on in their next LAN appearance at 1win Private Club starting September 25.
MIBR meanwhile continue their positive first steps with Tomas "tomaszin" Corna among their number, and can now look forward to a lower bracket semi-final against the loser of Aurora vs. NRG.
