The Esports World Cup open qualifier is headed to playoffs after whittling 64 teams down to 32 through a GSL group stage, where the favorites romped through without much difficulty.
Four spots in the main event will be up for grabs in the single-elimination playoff bracket, which had its matchups determined through a live draw that was done by Jackson "el_jack0" Wolf and Michal Slowinski from ESL and filmed by HLTV.
All group winners were put in the same bowl and pulled out one by one in bracket order, and were then matched up top to bottom with group runner-ups from a second bowl, with winners and runner-ups from the same group unable to face each other.
The resulting draw features a few stacked pools, with the most notable seeing 100 Thieves, Liquid, BC.Game, OG, FOKUS, and 1win all fighting for a single spot in the main event.

Virtus.pro, who have been steadily climbing the VRS with their new, inexperienced roster and beat Sangal and JiJieHao to make the playoffs, will face Sashi in their opener, with Betclic, BIG, and Eternal Fire in the same bracket.
The final spot will go to the winner of a pool that includes NRG, DENDELE, Inner Circle, HOTU, and 9INE.
