BLAST has announced that it will host its Open Season 3 2027 tournament, set to be held from September 3-12, in the United States.
The event will also feature an updated format from previous Open events, which featured 16 teams split into two groups, feeding into a six-team playoff.
The updated format will feature a Play-In Stage, where 16 teams will compete in a LAN environment in the USA in a Swiss bracket set to be held over five days. The eight teams to progress through the Swiss bracket will then duke it out in a playoff bracket held in an arena setting.
Out of the 16 attendees, 11 are set to receive direct invites via the VRS, with the remaining five going to each of the four regions through qualifiers, with an additional qualifying place allocated to North America as the host region.
The slot in the calendar was previously announced as a season of BLAST Bounty, with the updated Open event now taking its place on BLAST's calendar.
