Falcons have advanced to the BLAST Open Porto semi-finals after locking down a one-sided 2-0 victory over G2.
They set up a mouth-watering meeting against Spirit on Saturday in a rematch from the IEM Cologne Major semi-final, which saw Falcons prevail after two overtime map wins.
Meanwhile, G2's streak of Big Event finishes outside of the top four continues, just a few days shy of a year on since their BLAST Open London victory last September.
It was an unfortunate matchup against a Falcons side whose individuals looked reinvigorated after their shaky group stage appearance, where they narrowly beat Lynn Vision and received a spanking from MOUZ.
This time around, they were all on from the beginning, taking turns in an 11-1 CT-side beating on Inferno.
René "TeSeS" Madsen kicked it off by locking down a dangerous anti-force in round two, before Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, Maksim "kyousuke" Lukin and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač all came up clutch with big multi-kills to deny G2 the few chances they got.
NiKo's astonishing solo quad-kill then sent the arena into a roar and G2 firmly up against the ropes, from which they never recovered despite Matúš "MATYS" Šimko' solid form in a desperate second-half comeback attempt.
NiKo had cooled off by the time Dust2 came around, but he wasn't needed, as kyousuke kept providing crucial openings for Falcons to secure another massive first half after his hero AK broke G2's backs in round 6.
Like MATYS on Inferno, Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač tried to keep G2 afloat with a big pistol double, a follow-up ace, and a 1v2 clutch, but it was a fruitless effort in the end, as Falcons had m0NESY take them to match point with ease and closes it out a few rounds later.
