FlyQuest has announced Alistair "aliStair" Johnston's return to the team after his benching in late 2024 and departure in 2025.
The Australian AWPer went on to play for SemperFi in March and THUNDER dOWNUNDER in October, reaching the first stage of the IEM Cologne Major with the latter, where he was eliminated by no other than his new teammates.
After aliStair's departure in 2025, FlyQuest brought on Romanian AWPer Iulian "regali" Harjău, who posted a 1.11 rated during his year with the team, and then João "story" Vieira took over for the first half of 2026, posting a 1.10 before returning to Portugal to play with SAW.
aliStair, who didn't hit those numbers during his previous tenure with FlyQuest, averaging a 1.02 rating, is back not only as the team's AWPer, but will also be taking over the reins of in-game leadership. This move will free up Joshua "INS" Potter, who was the team's statistical leader before taking up the role of IGL in 2025.
"These players don't need a lot of corrections and direction; they already know how to play the game," FlyQuest's new caller stated in his announcement video. "It's just about finding that consistent level where we're all playing together, and we all see the game in a very similar way."
aliStair returned to the team in a 2-0 victory against NEXVOID in the IEM Beijing 2026 Asia Closed Qualifier. Up next for FlyQuest in the qualifier's bracket is Rare Atom.
