Legacy are through to the 1-1 pool at PGL Masters Bucharest after battling past their countrymen from DENDELE in a two-map series (13-9 Cache, 19-17 Mirage).
Legacy had stumbled in their opener in Bucharest, ending up on the losing side of the longest Ancient map at a Big Event (23-25) against Nemiga and faltering on Dust2 (8-13) to get cast down to the 0-1 pool.
Their form remained shaky in a domestic matchup against DENDELE, but winning all four pistols in the series and an excellent showing out of Santino "try" Rigal ensured they would avoid an early trip to the elimination pool.
Legacy won both pistols on Cache, and made up for losing to a force-buy in the first half with a six-round run spurred on by an on-fire try. The Argentine sniper tallied eight multi-kills and a 2.28 CT rating en route to a 20-5 K-D by the break, which, combined with a 14-6 half from Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer, left DENDELE with just three to their name.
Legacy wasted little time in moving up to map point at 12-4 before DENDELE won a few clutches to close the gap, but Vinicius "n1ssim" Pereira eventually got his team over the line with a 1v3 to seal victory on his opponent's pick.
Legacy added another pistol win to their tally as n1ssim and try's solid showing continued, but this time their early lead dwindled as a few B hits were shut down by Danilo "doc" Barros and Daniel "rdnzao" Monteiro. DENDELE found success disrupting Legacy's defaults and went ahead 7-5 at the half, but another lost pistol meant they would have to get the job done the hard way.
Solid calling, combined with multis from rdnzao, saw DENDELE make good on that effort as they climbed up to map point, 12-9, but they couldn't get the job done in regulation as Andrei "arT" Piovezan and try found impact to force overtime.
There, try continued to fire off with several multi-kills, but rdnzao kept DENDELE afloat with a pair of quad-kills as the teams battled into double overtime. Legacy eventually converted the map after a 2v4 by try and arT gave them a lead heading into their CT side half, which was enough to clinch a 19-17 win.
