The Stake Pulse Beat I field has been whittled down to eight teams following the end of the group stage, with HOTU and Metizport among the sides who were eliminated before the playoffs.
The second-highest VRS-ranked team heading into the event, HOTU were upset by G2 Ares and EAC in Group A, while Metizport came up short against fnatic and Johnny Speeds in Group D.
After topping their group with a default win over atputies and a narrow victory against Betclic, Liquid will now go up against 9INE in the quarterfinals. This is the second part of a three-leg tour that started in Malta at the BLAST Bounty Finals and that will also include a stop in Paris for the open qualifier for the Esports World Cup.
G2 Ares, the surprise package of the tournament so far, will take on Johnny Speeds hoping that Julius "Junyme" Meyhoff can keep up his hot streak after the Danish player posted a stunning 1.66 rating in the group stage.
The other two quarter-final matches will pit Acend against Betclic, who are playing with Sebastian "fr3nd" Kuśmierz as a stand-in, and fnatic against EAC.
