Dorian "xertioN" Berman has been named the HLTV x 1xBet Most Valuable Player of IEM Beijing after leading MOUZ's flawless campaign through the tournament.
The Israeli claims the first MVP of his career off the back of a superb run of form through the playoffs series against BETBOOM and The MongolZ, across which he hit multiple high peaks and averaged a 1.53 rating.
That was just enough to snatch the award away from teammate Ádám "torzsi" Torzsás. The Hungarian AWPer had amassed a lot of credit thanks to his superb consistency, until the floor gave out on the very last map, but didn't quite hit the same peaks as his IGL in the playoffs (1.20 playoffs rating).
In the end, that meant the overall gap was small enough (1.28 vs 1.33 tournament-wide rating) for xertioN to pull ahead thanks to his remarkable performances deep into the tournament, combined with valuable effort in the groups.
And then there was also Ihor "w0nderful" Zhdanov to consider after the Ukrainian put up highlight performances from beginning to end to make a substantial case for a third-place MVP, but it wasn't to be with candidates as strong as MOUZ put forward.
xertioN's recognition marks the first time an in-game leader was awarded the highest accolade at a Big Event since the IEM Rio Major 2022, where Dzhami "Jame" Ali received the honors.
