Not a great look for Spirit overall.
Success on low-buy rounds propped Spirit up in the first half, then individual impact from Andrey "tN1R" Tatarinovich and Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov did the same in the second half.
It was pretty much the ideal blueprint for Aurora, Ali "Wicadia" Haydar Yalçın was the big fragger, Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş was excellent in the opening duels, and Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo and Özgür "woxic" Eker provided high-impact moments.
Spirit looked down and out early on this half, but they've managed to give themselves something to work with, largely due to the work of Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov and Andrey "tN1R" Tatarinovich.
They're also constructing their defense better around leaving Middle uncontested.
Spirit's gun rounds haven't been great, they hit A twice and Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski picked up two multis. Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş just wrecked the following half-buy and now Aurora are in the driver's seat.
Aurora's stock has risen significantly in recent weeks, following their run to second-place at StarSeries Fall and now a top-four placing at ESL Pro League S24.
Spirit meanwhile have been a force to be reckoned with all season and won their last two events, Esports World Cup and BLAST Open Porto. They will, however, have to settle for third place at best in Katowice.
For Spirit today's match will be as much about shaking off a disappointing showing against MOUZ as anything else, but Aurora have the chance to add an impressive victory to their resume.
Aurora's recent rise has resulted in improved tournament placings, but only one truly notable victory: a 2-1 triumph over Vitality at StarSeries Fall that was immediately avenged in the BO5 grand final. They have lost to Vitality twice and Falcons once in recent weeks, and will be desperate to add another top team to their list of victims as we get closer and closer to the Singapore Major.
