FURIA are through to the consolidation final at StarLadder StarSeries Fall following a 2-0 victory against MIBR in a rematch of Thursday's opening-round clash. This time around, FURIA required only two maps to win the South American derby, cruising through Mirage before picking up a hard-fought win on Nuke.
The win puts FURIA on a collision course with Vitality, giving Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's charges a chance for revenge after Friday's blowout loss.
It is bound to be a long day for one of the teams as the winner advances straight into a best-of-five clash with Aurora in the final.
After picking Inferno in Thursday's clash, MIBR went with Mirage this time around, hoping to capitalize on FURIA's three-game losing streak on the map. Linus "LNZ" Holtäng's troops came out guns blazing and stormed to a 5-0 lead after a period of dominance, but then FURIA recalibrated their defense and controlled the rest of the half.
Lucas "nqz" Soares and Carlos "venomzera" Eduardo combined for five kills as MIBR got back on the board with a much-needed pistol round. Their reprieve was brief, though, as FURIA regained control once they had money to work with, going on a dominant 6-0 run led by an inspired Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.
FURIA picked up where they left off and grabbed an early lead on Nuke, courtesy of a 1v2 clutch from Yuri "yuurih" Santos, before MIBR responded with a trio of Five-SeveN frags by venomzera. MIBR grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck with a tight defense, conceding just three more rounds in the rest of the half, two of them via clutches from FURIA's players.
FURIA's defense looked surprisingly shaky as they struggled to hold down ramps and the lower site. MIBR refused to let up, but their inability to string rounds together proved costly in the end as FURIA finished the game off in the final round of regulation with a stylish 4K from Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato.
