DENDELE have handed G2 a surprise early elimination from PGL Masters Bucharest after defeating the international squad with a 2-1 scoreline.
G2 thus exit Bucharest without a single victory to their name, losing all three matches against Natus Vincere, Aurora and DENDELE.
The result follows a worrying period of results for G2, who have now won one series across their last two events — a victory over ShindeN at ESL Pro League S24.
G2 began the match well, winning a second-round forcebuy to get off to an early lead on their defense. That was as good as it got for the international squad, however, as their gameplan completely fell apart.
They went on to win just two more rounds on the map despite Artem "r1nkle" Moroz having a good individual performance (1.30 map rating, 0.38 ahead of his closest teammate), with their T side looking especially lackluster.
It looked like G2 were set for a mapless series after they failed to bounce back on the start of Ancient, with DENDELE eventually running away to a 12-6 lead. G2 made the most out of DENDELE's closing issues by forcing overtime, cashing in their experience to take the series to a third map with a 16-14 win.
Their comeback proved to be all for nought, as DENDELE had no trouble closing out the map and breezed past them on the Inferno decider with a 13-5 victory to stay alive in Bucharest.
