Phantom have announced the signing of Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt as their new head coach, bringing the two-time Major winner onboard in place of former head coach Dawid "lunAtic" Cieślak, who departed the team in September.
"His experience, winning mentality, and perspective on the game are exactly what we were looking for as we build the next stage of our project," Phantom's statement announcing the move said. "Now it’s time to get to work."
The move represents NBK-'s first head coaching role, the tenured 32-year-old having competed on GenOne as a player until February of this year, when he moved into an assistant coach role at 3DMAX.
NBK- has plenty of experience to draw upon as he takes the reins at a team for the first time, counting 17 years of playing experience across multiple iterations of CS on his resume. During that time the Frenchman won numerous notable trophies, was named on the HLTV top-20 list three times, and claimed two Major titles.
NBK- will take the helm of a mixture of Danish and Polish players at Phantom, one that features the likes of Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjidi and Kacper "Kylar" Walukiewicz. The squad peaked at 55th in the Global VRS mid-way through October and recently claimed a top-four finish at CCT Europe Series 12, putting them in a solid position to build towards a Major berth during the next qualification cycle.
Phantom now field the following lineup:
Thomas "TMB" Bundsbæk
Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjidi
Kamil "KEi" Pietkun
Kacper "Kylar" Walukiewicz
