It was the second upset the Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken-led side suffered at the tournament after another narrow loss to Alliance on the previous day.
The early exit was a stark contrast to the new FaZe's start of life, which saw them climb back from obscurity below the top-20 mark on the VRS to #10 ahead of the start of the Chinese tournament.
Prior to the two upsets, the only teams this iteration with Jason "JBOEN" Boe Nielsen lost to in series play had been PARIVISION at XSE Pro League, Spirit at BLAST Bounty, and Vitality at Esports World Cup.
After the impressive results, the Suzhou event was another chance for the new FaZe to establish the organization back at the top after a difficult year, with only three teams ranked above them present at the event in FURIA, G2 and Legacy.
Instead, they may once again end up having to battle to the last tournament to ensure their return to the Major after missing Cologne by the skin of their teeth, as they currently only have Stake Ranked Episode 4 on the calendar before the November's PGL Singapore Major invite deadline.
