The C4 now has a shockwave explosion that expands from the center and is affected by walls.

Valve has launched Season 5 of Premier, which sees Overpass depart the Active Duty pool in favor of Cache, and has redesigned the C4 explosion damage and effective range on all official defusal maps.

The overhaul sees the instant explosion swapped for a shockwave that erupts from the plant spot and progresses outward, with damage applied "according to precomputed simulation values, baked into the compiled map."

The shockwave is affected by walls and corners, and players' health bars will flash to show a preview of how much damage a player will take before the explosion.

Alongside new weapon and sticker collections, the developer also reduced the performance cost of showing the scoreboard (which, previously, would nearly halve a player's FPS when displayed), upgraded the engine code to the latest version of Source 2, added several community maps, and made various minor adjustments to Cache, Dust2, and Inferno.

  • Reduced the performance cost of showing the scoreboard.

  • Fixed a case where material blending effects would disappear when you got too close (e.g. the dirt on the barrels in Inferno Banana).

  • Increased sticker rotation precision to allow half-degree increments on application screen.

[MAP SCRIPTING]

  • Added Instance.QueueAfterThinks

  • Added Instance.OnWeaponDrop

  • Added CSWeaponBase.GetOriginalOwner

  • Fixed a crash when the name passed to Instance.RegisterCheatCommand collided with an existing command.

  • Added file name and line number to errors caught during the CompileModule step of script loading.

  • Removed support for deprecated vts assets.

[ENGINE]

  • Updated engine code to the latest version of Source 2

[MAPS]

  • Removed community maps: Warden, Stronghold, Alpine, and Sanctum from all game modes
