Teams and format
The $1.25 million event will feature a stacked field as 12 of the 13 highest-ranked teams per the July 6 VRS accepted invites. This includes teams like Spirit, Vitality, Thunderpick World Championship winners FURIA and the reigning PGL Masters Bucharest champions Aurora.
The only exception was Falcons, who turned down a place at the event, leaving them with no further opportunities to earn VRS points before the November 2 cut-off for Singapore Major invites.
The 12 invited teams will be joined by the winners of regional qualifiers held in Europe (Nemiga), North America (Liquid), South America (DENDELE) and Asia (TYLOO).
The tournament will utilize a best-of-three Swiss stage to send eight teams to a single-elimination playoff bracket, which will culminate in a best-of-five grand final.
PGL Masters Bucharest will mark Álvaro "SunPayus" García's debut for FUT after he was brought in to replace Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov on the AWP. The event will also see Justinas "jL" Lekavicius again play for Vitality as a stand-in, this time as a replacement for Dan "apEX" Madesclaire.
