HEROIC down to three as yxngstxr steps down

HEROIC's off-season rebuild continues as they're set to change two players in addition to a new coach.

Simon "⁠yxngstxr⁠" Boije has stepped down from HEROIC's active roster, the organization announced on Tuesday.

It is a continuation of the organization's rebuild of the Counter-Strike lineup, which also saw it bench Yasin "⁠xfl0ud⁠" Koç and replace Tobias "⁠TOBIZ⁠" Theo with Joonas "⁠doto⁠" Forss as the new head coach.

On Monday, HLTV reported that the organization has targeted Gentle Mates' star AWPer, Antonio "⁠MartinezSa⁠" Martinez, as a replacement for the Swede.

yxngstxr had been a member of HEROIC since early 2025, when he transferred to the organization as part of Sangal's core.

He was briefly benched at the beginning of 2026 as HEROIC brought in Tim "⁠susp⁠" Ångström, but was brought back a week later to take up AWPing after Alimzhan "⁠Alkaren⁠" Bitimbay was sidelined by visa issues.

"We are grateful for the selflessness you showed in the previous season, completely switching roles when we needed help in a difficult situation. The 'hobby AWPer' taht took down Major winners and MVPs," HEROIC said in thanks to yxngstxr in a statement on X.
